April 4, 2018 - Grossmont College's men's volleyball team is in the midst of season competition, in ultimate pursuit of the Pacific Coast Conference Championship title. The team is is 2-1 in conference with an overall record of 5-12.

This 2018 volleyball season Grossmont is led by sophomores, Greg Michael (#2 Setter/op), Sean Reilly (#5 Libero), and Trevor Deddeh (#13 Middle).

"These young men not only bring experience to the court, but also confidence and respect," says head coach Travis Lee.

"Greg, directly involved a little more as he is our setter, is extremely driven to pursue volleyball at the next level. He is looking at his options between three top NAIA programs with 50% to 80% scholarship offers. As a setter, Greg is directly involved in every sequence on the court. Not only a great setter, Greg is a strong attacker which has been consistently portrayed throughout the season. His good attitude, sportsmanship and work ethic is contagious.  As his coach, I strongly believe Grossmont would not be in the running for the Pacific Coast Conference championship without a dedicated leader like Greg Michael."

With 17 matches played, Michaels leads the griffins in sets, 60, assists, 425, assists per set, 7.08, and service aces, 8. His kills per set percentage is 1.47 with a whopping total of 88 kills this season!

Reilly posts himself to the CCCAA leader board, sitting at 4th in the state for his 2.88 digs per set, 164 digs total - 2nd in the state.

Deddeh hits at a .394%, qualifying himself 4th in the CCCAA leader board. His 133 kills in 16 games makes him top 15 in the state.

"Our season has been a great deal of fun. With some ups and downs throughout the season, Grossmont has grown to be stronger and more competitive. The team is composed of a group of young men eager to play and learn the sport. Earlier in the season we participated in a showcase in which over 75 college coaches attended to scout players. Traveling around Southern California, one of the most memorable trips was one to Santa Barbara. It was here when the team bonded and became closer as friends and a unit."

Currently, San Diego Miramar College leads the Pacific Coast Conference with a record of 4-0, with the griffins on their tail at 2-1. The Grossmont Griffins are scheduled to play the Miramar Jets tonight - Wednesday, April 4 at 6:00 p.m. in the G-House.
