El Cajon, CA October 2, 2018

After each season of competition, Grossmont College Athletics nominates teams for the California Community College Athletic Association's Scholar Team Award (CCCAA). Teams nominated show exemplary feats in athletics as well as academics in its season of competition. For spring 2018, women's volleyball, badminton, tennis and men's swim & dive were nominated by Grossmont Athletics.

Women's volleyball held a 3.298 GPA while chasing their eighth straight conference championship, securing themselves additional post-conference competition as the eighth seed in regional playoffs and overall twelfth rank in the state.

Women's badminton holds an impressive 3.249 GPA. It was a huge season for our international badminton students, like Yukari Naono whom finished top in the conference and state becoming the third badminton player in California Community College history to win the state singles and double championships in back-to-back seasons.

Women's tennis finished with a 3.235 GPA, in addition to capturing their fifth consecutive conference championship. The women qualified themselves as the seventh seed for regional playoffs under conference coach of the year Megan Haber.

Men's swim and dive made it to state championships with a 3.053 GPA, where multiple swimmers placed in the state's top 20 after capturing conference championships in the 200 yard backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle events.
