Construction on Grossmont College's track and field began in November 2018, and has completed February 2019. The new track and field welcomes Griffin football and soccer back to home turf.

Having played all home games at Grossmont high and West Hills high, Griffin football returns to play at Grossmont College for fall 2019.

Women's soccer also welcomes the upgraded playing field.

Women's head coach Jason Aldous states "The field looks great, and we're excited to host teams. It creates a level playing field for our conference games."

The new field holds NCAA standard dimensions for both football and soccer, and in the pursuit of performance but also play comfort, Grossmont College selected an untraditional sand/rubber infill system, Coolplay.

Coolplay is a three layer system composed with a first layer of sand, then a patented mix of sand and cryogenic rubber, and finally a layer of cork. CoolPlay is 35°F cooler than traditional sand/rubber infill systems. Coolplay is resilient with excellent shock absorption capacity, having met or exceeded industry standards for immediate and long-term player safety.

The track and field project crew is also currently installing the field scoreboard. It features state-of-the art LED projection.

Since its completion, the track and field is once again open to the public. It is also available for public events (see Facility Request).
