Grossmont beach volleyball defeats Ventura and Mt. SAC colleges in the first round of team regional playoffs to advance to the state championships May 9.
Being the region's first (1) seed, Grossmont College women's beach volleyball hosted the first round of team regional playoffs Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Grossmont College. Games began at 11:00 a.m. and ran through 3:00 p.m., finding the Griffins with a 5-0 sweep over Ventura and a 4-1 win over Mt. SAC, securing Grossmont's position in the state tournament.
Team regionals began with Grossmont's match-up versus ninth (9) seed Ventura College. It was a confident start for both teams, considering it was the first match of the day and both teams were well rested, but it wasn't long until the lady Griffins broke the Pirates.
GC's 4,5 and 1 pairs cleaned the courts with wins against Ventura. The 2 and 3 pairs followed suit polishing the match 5-0.

The day finished with Grossmont's match-up versus tenth (10) seed Mt. San Antonio College, but it was a difficult start for the Griffins; GC's 5 and 1 pairs lost their first sets against the Mounties, however the Griffin's 4s pair sparked back the momentum winning their set against the Mounties.
The Griffin 5 and 1 pairs pushed back to win each set, followed by a 2s win also. Grossmont defeats Mt. SAC 4-1.
