Over the next 3 weeks, Grossmont College football will enter a more favorable part of their grueling schedule, including Mt. San Jacinto, San Diego Mesa and Palomar. After losses to Long Beach (21-38) and Canyons (14-47), GC's young, developmenting yet talented roster seeks to capture their first win this weekend.

Saturday, September 15 - @ Mt. San Jacinto College 1:00 p.m.
Mt. San Jacinto competes in a lower division (American Mountain League), lead by head coach Casey Mazzotta. The Griffins are expected to outsize the Eagles and as an upper division team, they are the favorites despite being on the road. GC's head coach Mike Jordan believes in the positive outlook being displayed by his players.

"Our team is young, but we have the talent. Posada unexpectedly stepped in as quarterback. He's a great player, but he hasn't had the experience like Harris, yet!"

After a devastating season ending injury (collarbone), #8 starting quarterback Josh Harris remains out for the season and #4 Anthony Posada has stepped into his role. Posada is a 6'1, 200 lb freshman quarterback out of Bonita Vista High in Chula Vista, CA. So far this season, Posada has 36/63 completions for a 57.1 completion %. He has 291 yards, 1 touchdown, 6 interceptions and has suffered 4 sacks. In addition to Posada, the GC 2018-19 roster is filled with more young, developmenting men with talent.

In just 2 games #3 freshman running back Jarius Burnette has accumulated 144 rushing yards, and 1 touchdown. #28 Dallin Woodley (freshman running back) has 54 rushing yards and #35 Kobi Eure (freshman running back) holds 34 rushing yards with 2 touchdowns! #13 freshman wide receiver Jacob Rozar has accumulated 73 receiving yards, and #98 Ethan Albertson, freshman kicker and punter is 5/5 on extra points attempts with 241 yards punting. The sophomores on this season's roster have contributed as much.

#6 Wilton Cravens, sophomore wide receiver holds 87 receiving yards, while #15 Taj Broomfield, sophomore wide receiver has contributed with 151 yards returned. There are plenty more games for the entire team to "learn-up," as coach Jordan states. He just hopes it is in time for conference play.

Saturday, September 22 - @ San Diego Mesa College 6:00 p.m.
San Diego Mesa beat Golden West (27-21) last weekend. Golden West has always had a competitive reputation in football, so GC's match-up versus San Diego Mesa will be a very good game. This is also a long standing San Diego County rivalry match-up.

Saturday, September 29 - vs Palomar College 3:00 p.m.
Palomar is in a similar position as the Griffins-the comets are down players due to injury, including their starting quarterback. This will be a big game for the Griffins as it is the Conference opener for both squads.

All Grossmont College football home games are to be played at Grossmont High School, with the exception of October 20 in which the game is to be held at West Hills High School.
