For the past twenty years, one of the goals for head coach Doug Weber and his staff has been to help Griffin basketball players receive scholarships and move on to four year institutions to continue their playing careers. Weber has seen over 100 student-athletes transfer to 4-year universities to continue academic or athletic goals.

Last season (2017-18), five additional Griffin basketball players received athletic scholarships to 4-year universities: Kyle Ruiz, Ronald Blain, Taka Hall, Bryce Parsons and David Wheeler.

Kyle Ruiz, originally from West Hills High in Santee, CA, began competing at Grossmont College in 2016. The 6'1, 180 lb guard is transferring to Midland University.
