GRIFFIN TOP 16 SWIM & DIVE STATE FINISHERS

Jasmine Miller qualified for the state championships in the women's 50, 100 and 200 yard freestyle swims. She finished twelfth in the state in the 50 yard with a 25.0 final time, fourteenth in the state in the 200 yard in 2:00.30, and 18^th in the 100 free with a time of 55.05. Prior to state championships, Miller captured the conference championship (PCAC) in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.74, and placed second in the 100 yard freestyle (53.94).

 

GC's 200 meter butterfly record holder, Carli Willis, competed in the 400 IM and 200 butterfly at state championships. Making finals in both events, she finished 14^th in the 400 IM with a new personal best and first time under 5 minutes, going 4:58.32. In the 200 butterfly, she finished 11^th in the state with a new school record of 2:18.81. She has now broken the record 5 times this season and lowered it by a total of over 24 seconds this season.

 

PCAC champion (200 yard backstroke), Vince Ojeda, competed in the 100 and 200 backstroke and finished 18^th in both events with a time of 56.12 and 2:02.11.

Brandon Persky finished 21^st in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.10 and 16^th in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:10.97

Garrett Hail, Mack Nevins, Eddie Reuss, Brian Kuhn, Isaiah Webster, Wes Papike, along with Ojeda and Persky, teamed up for all 5 relays.

Prior to state championships, Hail, Ojeda and Persky each captured conference titles in the PCAC; Hail finished 1st in the 200 yard freestyle (1:45.98), Ojeda finished 1st in the 200 yard backstroke (1:59.29), and Persky placed 1st in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:09.11).

Grossmont men's team finished state 16^th overall out of 29 teams and the Women's team finished 24^th out of 33 teams.
