El Cajon, CA October 1, 2018
After a month of competition, freshman Brock Kammerer earned himself a CCCAA Athlete of the Month nomination for September; Kammerer leads Grossmont water polo and the Pacific Coast conference in goals scored with 42. He leads the team and conference in assists (36), and shots blocked from the field with 11 and has also made 13 steals and drawn six exclusions so far this season. Kammerer stands at 6'1, 190 lbs. and is out of University City High, San Diego CA.
GC men's water polo made it through the last week of September 6-0, which puts GC at 12-0 for the month of September and the fall season. GC triumphed over conference opponents Mesa 23-15 and Southwestern College 26-8 before heading north to Saddleback College to beat El Camino 14-8, Modesto 23-2, Santa Monica 18-7 and host Saddleback 19-5. The Griffin men head north again Friday and Saturday (October 5-6) to Riverside City College for Riverside's annual tournament.
The Riverside tournament is an opportunity for GC to play four top ten teams. The tournament will also provide insight as to where Grossmont sits in terms of the Southern California and state rankings, which are traditionally posted after Riverside's tournament.
