Brock Kammerer of Grossmont men's water polo is Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Month for October.

The ballots have been cast and selections made as four athletes from the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference have been named Athlete-of-the-Month for October.  Isaiah Labra, Brock Kammerer, Alissa Johnson and Kareemah Hopkins will all share the honors for the month of October.

ATHLETES-OF-THE-MONTH (WOMEN)
Kareemah Hopkins, San Diego City (volleyball)
Hopkins started the month off with 56 assists and 18 digs in a 5-set win over Imperial Valley on October 3. She capped off the month with 36 assists and two blocks in a 3-0 sweep at Southwestern on October 31 that clinched 2nd place for the Knights in the PCAC South.   At the end of the month, Hopkins was second in the PCAC South in total assists (544) and second in assists per set (8.37). She is currently 20th and 18th in the state, respectively, in those same categories.  The Knights, currently ranked No. 24 in the state, finished the PCAC South season with an 8-2 record and are 17-7 overall.

Alissa Johnson, San Bernardino Valley (cross country)

Johnson has had a big season for San Bernardino Valley this season and capped off the month of October with a dominating win at the PCAC Finals.  She finished 30 seconds in front of any competitor in the race, finishing in 18:57.0, and helping her team to a PCAC title.  In addition, Johnson was second at the coveted Brubaker Invitational.   She will guide the Wolverines at the CCCAA State Championships next weekend in Fresno.

ATHLETES-OF-THE-MONTH (MEN)
Isaiah Labra, San Diego Mesa (cross country)
Labra has been a dominating force all season for a San Diego Mesa team that finished third at the Southern California Regional Finals last weekend.  Labra captured the PCAC title at the PCAC Finals in a time of 20:09.4, finishing 19 seconds in front of his closest competitor.  In addition, he finished first among community college runners at both the Highlander Invitational and the Mesa (AZ) Invitational.

Kammerer has been one of many forces on the Grossmont men's water polo team this year as the Griffins are getting ready to play in the Southern California Regional Playoffs this week as the No. 7 seed in the playoffs.  Kammerer had a huge month of October, finishing with 45 goals and 31 assists while leading the Griffins to a PCAC title.  He currently leads a talented Grossmont squad in scoring with 95 goals and 75 assists and scored a month-high five goals against Rio Hondo on October 5.
