April 13, 2018 - Grossmont College softball pitcher #22, Jessica Schoen, pitches a no-hitter versus Mt. San Jacinto College. Grossmont College Griffins (9-24-1), Mt. San Jacinto College Eagles (15-20).

It was a warm Friday (the 13th!) afternoon in the G-House when the lady griffins took the field at 1:00 p.m. versus the eagles. Grossmont's starting line up included #1 Alizah Jamison (CF), #4 Brianna Coronado (LF), #28 Madison Lindsay (C), #7 Azaria Wilson (#B), #15 Khiya Mohamed (SS), #27 Celine Menard (1B), #24 Taylor O'Riley (RF), #29 Alex Penrose (2B) and #22 Jessica Schoen (P).

Grossmont's 5'5" freshman pitcher from San Diego, CA, Jessica Schoen, began her no-hit game against Mt. San Jacinto's sophomore Summer Smith, with a pop-up to shortstop Khiya Mohamed. The top of the inning followed suit with 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors and 0 left on base until the bottom, when Azaria Wilson flied out to center-field for a single RBI on a sacrifice fly; center-fielder, Alizah Jamison, having previously reached first on an error, scored, unearned (1-0).

Schoen completed the top of the second similarly with 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors and 0 left on base.
On 3 hits and 1 error, Schoen and her teammates continued the second inning by scoring 3 runs in the bottom; Schoen with the first run in on an error, followed by Alex Penrose, and finally Jamison on an RBI by sophomore Madison Lindsay. The end of the second found the griffin's with a 4-0 lead.

Little action took place in the third, as Schoen pitched incredibly - more zeros across the board for her this inning (0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 left on base).

Again in the fourth, no-hits from Schoen. In the bottom half, Jamison scored her third run of the game and the griffins led 5-0 heading into the fifth inning.

1, 2, 3 - Schoen outs the eagles quickly in the top of the fifth. Taylor O'Riley begins the bottom half with a huge double, scoring Khiya Mohamed for her first run of the game and pushing the griffins 1 run closer to an 8 after 5 mercy rule victory. #21 Alyssa Gonzalez triples. The crowd goes wild! O'Riley scores, 7-0! Gonzalez scores, 8-0! Grossmont ends the contest mid inning and secures Schoen's no-hitter.

Schoen completes the game with 0 hits, having faced 17 batters, and pitching a 23-10 (pitches-strikes) game versus Mt. San Jacinto. The griffin women are now 9-24-1.
