MEDLIN'S WALK-OFF SEALED THE WIN FOR SOFTBALL

Medlin's Walk-off Seals the Deal in Grossmont College's Victory Over Saddleback College.

It came down to the wire on Tuesday, January 29 with Grossmont College Softball taking victory on a dramatic walk-off single late in the game that sealed its victory over Saddleback College. Grossmont College was down 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Jessica Medlin singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs!

The Griffins took an early lead in the second inning on an error, scoring one run for Grossmont.

In the top of the third inning, Saddleback College tied the game at two. Dimpo Benjamen grounded out, scoring one run.

The Griffin women notched three runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught by Grossmont was led by Sierra Schlichting and Kelly Olson, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Dakotta Mershon was in the pitcher's circle for Grossmont College. She went five innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out one.

Benjamen started the game for Saddleback College. She allowed four hits and two runs over six innings, striking out two and walking one. Alyssa Porras threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

The Griffin's tallied ten hits on the day. Medlin, Schlichting, and Olson each managed multiple hits for Grossmont. Jess Medlin led Grossmont College with three hits in four at bats.
