GRIFFINS FALL SHORT AGAINST PALOMAR 4-0

Lexi Schmehr was on the rubber for Grossmont College in its game against Palomar College Wednesday, February 26, 2020. Schmehr allowed seven hits and four runs over six innings, striking out one.

Martinez and Lane each had multiple hits for Palomar. Martinez led Palomar with three hits in three at bats. Palomar didn't commit a single error in the field. Kendal Cates had eight chances in the field, the most on the Comet team.

The Griffins played a tough game against Palomar. Each inning the Griffins continued to improve and make the necessary adjustments.

Grossmont's defense was on fire with Melissa Gutierrez making the majority of the defensive outs. Gutierrez had 4 put-outs, and short stop Jazmine Gomez showed off her range with 3 close put-outs.

Grossmont's at bats started to come alive in the 5th. The Griffins battled at the plate unearning hits and walks against the Palomar pitcher. Griffins had runners in scoring positions multiple times, but were unsuccessful to score.

The Griffins were defeated in 7 innings 4-0.
