Grossmont College will host badminton teams from Southern California in it's annual tournament Friday, February 21, 2020. The tournament will be held in the Grossmont College gymnasium and begins at 10:00 a.m. It is lead by Griffin Badminton head coach, Ayumi Hazel.
Hazel stepped into her inaugural year as head coach spring 2020. She has been an assistant with the program since 2016 and is an essential part of its success.
Hazel tirelessly recruits each year. She encourages international students and beginning level players to join, in an effort to qualify for the CCCAA State Championship tournament in May.
Also joining the coaching staff this season is two-time CCCAA State Badminton Champion, Yukari Naono. Naono enjoyed becoming just the third player in the sport's history to win back-to-back singles and doubles championships (2017 & 2018).
The two coaches are still seeking new players to join the spring 2020 season (January-May, 2020). Practices are Monday-Friday from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Grossmont College. Earn credits too! If you are interested in joining the badminton team, please get into contact!

Grossmont Badminton's first conference match is scheduled for Friday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m. against Irvine Valley. Additional conference opponents include San Diego City and San Diego Mesa Colleges (Pacific Coast Athletic Conference).
