Two sophomore Griffins, Kyra Bruesewitz and Brittany Gafare of the Women's basketball team have achieved the prestige of not only furthering their education- but playing the sport they love while doing so.

Gafare, captain this year, has signed with Trinity International University, located in Illinois. Gafare, who averaged 11.4 points per game last year and demanding 6.3 rebounds per game, no doubt proved herself to be an outstanding recruit.

As for Coach Karen Caires'comments to her achievements, she states, "Brittany is a fantastic student-athlete. She is a two time 1st team PCAC All-Conference player, and has worked hard in the classroom. She has volunteered at athletic events, served as team captain, and is a fierce competitor in games. I am so proud of her accomplishments and I know she will continue to be successful at Trinity International University."

As for what Brittany had to say for herself, she states, "I feel accomplished and successful because I never thought I'd be following my dream of playing basketball for four years. I am the first generation college student and athlete in my family."

As for Bruesewitz, who scored over 300 points all season, and broke the record for three-pointers made in a single game, she is headed to Southern Vermont College to finish out her collegiate basketball career. After an excellent run this season, coming to Grossmont College out of Reno, Nevada, Bruesewitz presented herself as a constant threat to every opposing team.

Coach Caires remarks, "Kyra is a special-student athlete. She is a two-time PCAC All-Conference player, she set a 3-point shooting school record, making 11 in a single game. She is often the first and last one in the gym, and she has also committed herself in the classroom as well. I know she will represent Grossmont college very well at Southern Vermont."

Kyra also says, "I am excited to continue my academic and athletic career. I will be looking forward to making lifelong friends with my new teammates and classmates. I'm super excited and can't wait to continue to grow as a player and as a person, and make a name for myself at Southern Vermont College."

Congrats to both players! Go Griffins!
