It was Friday, September 7, 2018-the Grossmont College women's soccer team traveled to Wilmington, CA for a match-up against LA Harbor College. Despite having 10 shots on goal, the Griffin women came home with a 0-0 tie.
The women add the tie to their 1-2-1 overall record, with losses to Santiago Canyon College (0-4) and to Mt. San Antonio College (0-1), and win over Santa Ana College (1-0). GC's single goal this season was scored by #9 midfielder, Julia Hartman.
Hartman is a sophomore out of Patrick Henry High School in San Diego, CA. She began playing soccer at Grossmont in the 2017-18 season, where she started the 21 games of the season and scored 15 goals! Add the 7 assists, and the 1-1 penalty kick success to her career and we have ourselves a GREAT player at Grossmont College. Hartman scores goals, and her teammate Jessica Schott saves them!
Starting goal keeper #0, Jessica Schott, saved two in last week's game versus LA Harbor for the scoreless tie. Schott has accumulated 23 saves this season, for a .821 save percentage. In the 16 games she played last season (2017-18), she allowed only 13 goals whilst saving 32 more. Schott is a sophomore from Valhalla High School in El Cajon, CA. Her understudy, freshman #1 Tiahana Bible, is following suit.
Tiahana Bible saw 60 minutes last game, and 6 saves. This was the first game at Grossmont College for Bible. She is a freshman out of Grossmont High School.
