Imperial Valley 9-0, San Diego City 5-4, Mt. San Jacinto College 7-2, San Diego Mesa College 7-2...the list continues with 9 consecutive conference wins for the women's tennis team at Grossmont College.

Participating in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC), the lady Griffins hold the conference lead by a whopping 9-0 record. The team is led by head coach Megan Haber.

"Never a dull moment with this energetic bunch of young women. They show up ready to play, work hard in practices and take care of business in the classroom. They're great and I love 'em!" states head coach Haber.

According to coach Haber, standout student-athletes of the women's tennis team include Grossmont College's #1 singles player Katrina Jasso and doubles partner Erica Childs.

Jasso, a freshman out of Serra High School, primarily competes as a singles player pounding ground strokes up to rallies of 25. She wears her opponents down, as seen in her big singles wins this season versus Ventura College's #1 Lea Meschke and Santa Barbara College's #1 Katelyn Peyvendi.

Childs, a sophomore out of Steele Canyon High School, teamed up with Jasso in the #1 doubles position in yesterday's match-up versus San Diego City College's #1 doubles pair Josa Corpuz and Marilyn Kathka. Together, Childs and Jasso took the win with a score of 8-6.

The team's 3 losses are to Saddleback College 4-5, Cerritos College 0-9 and Santa Barbara College 4-5.

With 4 more conference matches left in the season, the lady Griffins are on track for a 1st place conference finish, setting the court for PCAC individual championships April 12-14 at Southwestern College.
