2018 PACIFIC COAST CONFERENCE TEAM CHAMPIONS

2018 PACIFIC COAST CONFERENCE TEAM CHAMPIONS

April 5, 2018 - Ladies and gentlemen of El Cajon, California, please congratulate the 2018 Pacific Coast Conference Champions - Women's Tennis!

This is the 5th (I repeat fifth!) consecutive conference championship for Grossmont College women's tennis team, lead by head coach Megan Haber. Haber is in her 20th season as head coach for the Grossmont women's tennis team.

"The team has worked really hard this spring for the championship, including the coaches. Everyone shows up and works hard, and if we show up for regionals and work hard, we'll win." states Haber. "Thank you to my assistant coaches Alexia, Amanda and Matthew for their hard work."

Haber coaches alongside assistants Alexia Mercer, Amanda DiGiovanni and Matthew Worthington.

The team battled through conference undefeated, 13-0, and captured the title after defeating Southwestern College for the second time, 6-3, in their final conference match-up.

Additionally, matches versus other teams in the conference including Imperial Valley College, Palomar College and San Diego Mesa College were a breeze for the lady griffins this season; they shut-out Imperial Valley twice, 9-0, and crushed both Palomar and San Diego Mesa, 8-1.

This season for women's tennis was lead by freshman stand-out and #1 singles player Katrinna Jasso, and her partner sophomore Erica Childs - together as the #1 doubles pair.

Moving forward, Jasso, Childs and the remaining griffin women's tennis team prepare for their 1st round of the CCCAA dual team regional championships scheduled to take place Tuesday, April 10. The griffin women will be playing away vs Orange Coast College in the first round of the regional playoffs at 2:00 p.m.

On Thursday, April 12, Grossmont women's tennis will begin the PCAC individual tournament at Southwestern College. Singles matches begin at 9:30 a.m., and doubles matches start at 1:30 p.m.
