CASTRO WITH PCAC ATHLETE OF THE MONTH

#2 Emiliano Castro
#2 Emiliano Castro

Pacific Coast Athletic Conference

The fall sports are nearing the halfway point and with most of the programs deep into Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play it's time to name the Athletes-of-the-Month for September.  Athletes from San Diego Mesa College, Palomar College, MiraCosta College and Grossmont College all were chosen for the month of September.

The PCAC has had a sensational start to the 2019-20 calendar year and it is time to recognize some of the great individual efforts.  Mesa's Violet Renard and Palomar's Sydni Dickson were chosen as the Female Athletes-of-the-Month while MiraCosta's Seth Ketterrer and Grossmont's Emiliano Castro were chosen as the Male Athletes-of-the-Month.

ATHLETES-OF-THE-MONTH (WOMEN)

Violet Renard, San Diego Mesa (soccer)

Renard had a stellar month for the San Diego Mesa women's soccer team, scoring nine goals with three assists in five games.  She scored in every game in September, scoring four goals against Saddleback, Mt. San Jacinto, San Diego City and Cuyamaca.   Renard is part of a Mesa team that is currently 10-1 overall and ranked No. 7 in the state in the latest CCCSIA State Rankings.

Sydni Dickson, Palomar (water polo)

Dickson has been a force for the Palomar women's water polo team and had a sensational September when she netted 29 goals and 21 assists in nine games.  She had seven goals against Fresno City (9/27) and five against both Rio Hondo (9/7) and Santa Monica (9/27).  Dickson is currently fourth in the state in total goals (56) and has Palomar right in the hunt in the race for the PCAC title as the Comets are 8-6 overall and 2-0 in PCAC play.

ATHLETES-OF-THE-MONTH (MEN)

Seth Ketterrer, MiraCosta (soccer)

Ketterrer has been a force in goal for the MiraCosta men's soccer team and led the Spartans to a 2-1-3 finish in the month of September.  He allowed just two goals in six games for MiraCosta, dishing out shutouts against Santa Monica, Antelope Valley, Cosumnes River and Norco.  Ketterrer currently has a 0.250 goals-against-average in eight games and is a large part of the reason the Spartans are right in the mix for the PCAC title in 2019.

Emiliano Castro, Grossmont (water polo)

Castro has had a tremendous start for Grossmont, leading the Griffins in multiple categories.  He had an amazing month of September for Grossmont, scoring 41 goals while adding 10 assists and 21 steals in nine games.   Castro scored eight goals against Chaffey (9/27), Santa Monica (9/28) and El Camino (9/28) in September and currently leads the state with 53 goals for the year.  He has the Griffins right in the mix in the PCAC as Grossmont is 5-2 against community college programs and 2-0 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play.
