Despite seeing its five-run lead whittled down by the end, Grossmont College held off Santa Monica College for a 12-10 victory on Monday, February 24, 2020. 

There was plenty of action on the base path as the Griffins collected 17 hits and Santa Monica 11. Lexi Schmehr, Danica Crews, Sierra Schlichting, Sierra Marty, Jazmine Gomez, Kelly Olson, Jessica Medlin and Melissa Gutierrez all managed multiple hits.

Santa Monica scored two runs in their failed comeback on a triple by Chloe Jones.

Santa Monica opened up scoring in the second inning when Jones doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. Santa Monica evened things up at five in the bottom of the third inning. Santa Monica scored one run when Alyssa Franco singled. Lexi Schmehr was in the circle for Grossmont for four innings, relieved by Charly Shenefield to finish the game.
