Grossmont College women's soccer puts away four goals against Miramar College to secure another conference win. The women traveled to Oceanside Tuesday, October 8 for the 1:00 p.m. kick-off. The final score was 4-2.

Forward #2 Merari Chavez walks away from Tuesday's game with two goals against the Jets (with an assist from #6 Lauren Farris). She totals seven goals this season. Chavez is a speedy attacking freshman out of San Diego High.

#7 Carly Reese also notches one goal of her own (assisted by #19 Cassandra Ekwegwo). The 5'4 freshman out of Ramona High has six goals tallied this fall, three of which she scored in the single game against Cuyamaca College on October 1st. Reese is strong, with an unparalleled ability to win the ball and keep it.

#10 Maya Mozo puts herself on the board, also scoring one goal against Miramar. Mozo is a 5'1 freshman midfielder out of Monte Vista High in Spring Valley, with a total of three goals as a first year Griffin. She is explosive on the ball with great foot skill and speed.

The Griffins' starting goalkeeper, #1 Raynee Weber, is recovering this week after sustaining a head injury during the game against Southwestern College (Oct. 4).

Weber is a solid goalkeeper with the capacity to stay light on her feet and distribute out of the back. She is absolutely vital for the Griffin women's next conference match-up Friday, October 11 against conference powerhouse San Diego Mesa College.

Friday's game begins at 1:00 p.m. at Grossmont College. San Diego Mesa women's soccer is currently 10-1 with a 6-0 conference record. Don't miss this game.
