Grossmont women's soccer wraps up fall season as usual, with more wins than losses. The women finish with big wins over Southwestern and MiraCosta Colleges to capture second in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.

In its first match-up with Southwestern, Grossmont lost 2-0 at Southwestern (Jaguar Stadium is notorious for bizarre goals being scored, ask anyone!). The Griffin women returned later in the season to take back the win against the Jaguars 1-0 (Nov. 5).

MiraCosta showed a lot of potential in the beginning of the season as Grossmont tied the Spartans 1-1. By the end of the season, the Spartans couldn't field a team resulting in a forfeit and a 1-0 win for the Griffins (Nov. 15).

Grossmont finished fall 11-4-1 in conference with a .719 winning %. Their overall record holds at 11-7-2 with Coach Jason Aldous at the helm.

Aldous states, "I am very pleased with how our season progressed. The girls competed every game."

Also leading the Griffins were top scorers #7 Carly Reese and #2 Merari Chavez, fed by center midfielder #22 Clarissa Estrada.

Reese tops the charts at second in the PCAC for goals scored with 12. Chavez comes close, with eight goals in the books. Estrada leads the Griffins with four assists and even scored a single goal for herself.

On the defensive side, Grossmont relied heavily on #1 Raynee Weber, #6 Lauren Farris and #14 Sierra Carter to hold down the back-line the entire season. Likewise, #10 Maya Mozo and #24 Basia Llamas kept the center midfield strong and played their part well.

Grossmont loses sophomores Sierra Carter and Basia Llamas this year, but maintains the majority freshman roster for the 2020-21 season.

Congratulations to Grossmont women's soccer for a successful 2019 season of competition and growth. G-HOUSE!
