WOMEN'S WATER POLO ENTERS PCAC TOURNAMENT AT THE TOP OF THE CONFERENCE

The Pacific Coast Athletic Conference women's water polo tournament kicks off Friday, November 8 at Southwestern College.

Grossmont College enters the PCAC Tournament at the top of the conference with a 14-5 overall record and an undefeated 5-0 conference record. The Griffins won their previous match-ups with Southwestern, 18-9, Palomar 15-6, Miramar 21-11, Crafton Hills 14-4 and Mesa 15-7. Palomar currently sits in second place with a 16-8 overall record and 4-1 conference record with their loss coming from Grossmont. Palomar has defeated Mesa 14-2, Southwestern 10-7, Miramar 19-8 and Crafton Hills 15-1.

In third place is Southwestern with a 12-5 overall record and 3-2 conference record. Miramar sits in fourth with a 11-10 record and 1-3 conference record. Rounding out the conference is San Diego Mesa with a 7-17 overall record and 0-4 conference record.

Grossmont is coming off a conference win after losing two in a row at the Battle of the Beach Tournament hosted by Long Beach City College. Palomar is currently on nine-game win streak. Southwestern is currently on a seven-game win streak and Miramar won their last two matches. Mesa is coming off their 15-7 loss to Grossmont. Palomar and Southwestern are 1-1 against each other this season. Palomar and Miramar have also played one another twice this season and the Comets have won both match-ups. Miramar is 2-0 against Mesa this season.

Palomar's Sydni Dickson leads the conference with 94 goals on the season. Miramar's Devon Lima leads the conference with 45 assists and Dickson is right behind her with 44. Palomar's Julia Miller leads the conference in saves and save percentage with 260 and 57 percent. Southwestern's Julissa Diaz has 53 steals on the season. Miramar's Maddie Bursch takes the most shots in the conference with 135 on the season. Grossmont's Alissa Brindley has only allowed 65 goals past her on the season, the lowest of the conference.

Palomar enters the tournament with the most goals on the season at 256 total, but the least amount of shots taken at 374. They have a shot percentage of 68.4 percent. Grossmont sits behind Palomar with 247 goals on the season, but on 450 shots and a shot percentage of 54.9 percent.

The tournament will begin Friday Nov. 8 and finish up on Saturday Nov. 9.
