The 2022 All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference member committed to UCONN (Big East, Division I) to be their first baseman.

Abshier said "I couldn't be more proud of this great young man. He is an upstanding player that plays the game the right way."

As a Freshman the Cathedral Catholic graduate led the Griffins in average (.375), Runs (50), Hits (57), Doubles (13), Home Runs (9), Stolen Bases (15) and On-Base Percentage (.469).

Zavien and the rest of the baseball team begin practice shortly after the first of the year and will open the season January 28 at East Los Angeles College. The home opener will be February 9 against Los Angeles Mission College.
