The Grossmont College Men's water polo team opened the Southern California Regional Playoffs today with a 13-9 win over the Mounties of Mt. San Antonio College. The game began as a defensive battle as the Mounties finished the first quarter up 2-1. Freshman utility Torin Carss scored the lone goal for the Griffins.

 In the second quarter Freshman Torin Carss and Sophomore Anson Rasmusson each notched a goal apiece to bring the score to a  3-3 tie at the half. 

In the 3rd quarter, Sophomore Brock Kammerer and Freshman Austin Gaier scored their first goals of the game. Freshman Ryan Beery found the back of the net twice. Torin Carss put in his 3rd score of the game to put the Griffins up to 5 goals in the quarter to the Mounties 3, resulting in an 8-6 lead going into the 4th. 

In the 4th quarter Brock Kammerer notched 2 more goals, Anson Rasmusson , Torin Carss, and Sophomore Garrett Duardo all contributed 1 to finish the game with a 13-8 win. 

Friday 11/12/21 the Griffins will face off against the Vikings of Long Beach Community College. The game will be played at Southwestern College, 12:30 pm.
