GRIFFINS POSTPONE THREE GAMES DUE TO PLAYER SAFETY

The Grossmont College women's basketball team is postponing their game this weekend because of several team injuries.

The injuries put the Griffins under the conference minimum of five available student-athletes.

The games against Palomar (Jan. 6), Imperial Valley (Jan. 11) and Southwestern (Jan. 13).  Freshman Lexi Scott and Sophomore Paula Magtoto were injured during last Wednesday.

Several other players were already out of the game due to injuries.

"At Grossmont, the health and well-being of our student-athletes will always be our top priority," Interim Athletics Director Jason Allen said in a statement.

"Our women's basketball program has unfortunately been affected by an unprecedented number of injuries this season. While it's unfortunate that we need to postpone a few games, it's the right call to protect the safety of our student-athletes," he continued.
