KEARNEY MESA — In a battle between two Top-10 teams in the State, it was the #5 Grossmont Griffins coming out on top of the critical Pacific Coast Athletic Conference match 3-2.

With the win over #6 San Diego Mesa, the Griffins have virtually clinched the 2022 title for the PCAC.

"The team handled pressure really well last night and executed in crucial tight moments," head coach Brooke Callahan said. "Players stepped up in different areas when it mattered and played as a team not as individuals. Defensively we did a lot of good things that don't necessarily show up in the stats."

The Sophomore trio of Lauren Dumo (32), Madi Bogle (16) and Rylee Suggett (15) along with Freshman Chelsee Turner (23) all had double-digit digs in the Griffins second longest match of the year.

To go along with her digs Turner had a career-high 58 set assists, passing her previous high of 47 against Palomar two weeks ago.

On the other end of those 58 assists, Bogle had 20 kills and Kelsey Carter had 11.

"Bogle was seemingly unstoppable at the net," Callahan said. "I think our ability to run our middles in non-perfect scenarios was big for us as well."

All of the Griffin hitters attacked the ball more than 15 times each in the match.

Grossmont will now embark on a three-match homestand to close out the regular season home schedule. The homestand will kick off on Friday (Nov. 4) against San Diego City, with first serve scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
