FRESNO – The Grossmont College Women's Volleyball team lost to Feather River College at the CCCAA State Elite Eight at Fresno City College by a score of 20-25, 15-25, 20-25. The Griffins end the season with a 23-4 record.

Grossmont in the South and Feather River in the North were the two schools that many in the State thought were completely mis-seeded, but according to the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) were ranked according to the seeding conventions that the CCCAA has used over the past few seasons.

The Feather River Eagles (who would go on to win the State Championship) were the top team in the State all season but were seeded as the North's two seed finished the season on a 34-match winning streak. When they beat Grossmont, it snapped the Griffins' own 21-match win streak.

Grossmont had their worst three set stretch since the opening match of the season against Santa Barbara. The Griffins never hit above .258 and hit a shockingly low -.097 in the second set.

Brooke Miller led Grossmont with seven kills. All-American Madi Bogle had six kills in the match, while All-PCAC Setter Chelsee Trendler only had 24 assists (on 28 kills by the Griffins). Libero Lauren Dumo had a match-high 10 digs.

The Griffins thank the seven sophomores that were on the team and look forward to seeing them show what they can do on the next level.

Grossmont will look to have 11 freshmen and the four red shirts back next year to make another run towards a State title.
