EL CAJON — Grossmont’s Ryan Beery of the men’s water polo team was awarded the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference men’s athlete of the week award on Wednesday. 

Ryan had nine goals, one assist and eight steals in a pair of game last week at the Palomar tournament. 

In the opening game against Citrus, the sophomore driver had five goals, an assist and four steals in the 24-20 victory. 

Later in the day, against Crafton Hills the Classical Academy product netted another four-pack of goals and four more steals in the 23-7 win. 

On the season, Ryan has 11 goals and two assists on 17 shots. He is also a +8 in turnover margin. 

Next Wednesday the water polo team travels to NCAA Division II school Concordia-Irvine to take on NAIA Westcliff University and the host Golden Eagles. First match against Westcliff is at 10 a.m.
