SAN DIEGO – Grossmont College and Maya Garcia-Hale were graced with the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference athlete of the week for the week ending March 12. 

Garcia-Hale secured three victories at the RCC Invitational that included two races were she sat new school records. The new school records in the 200 Butterfly (2:12.01) and 200 Breaststroke (2:29.25) both are the Helix high graduates. In addition, the freshman was a part of the 200 Medley Relay that defeated their opponents by over six seconds. 

Her time in the 200 Breaststroke would have placed her fifth in the CCCAA State championships a year ago. Meanwhile, her 200 Butterfly time would have put her in second at the same meet a year ago. 

The swim and dive teams will be back in the pool on Friday at Palomar for the second of three PCAC Invitational meets. The meet is scheduled to begin at high Noon in San Marcos.
