STUDENT-ATHLETES RETURN TO CAMPUS, SPRING 2021

STUDENT-ATHLETES RETURN TO CAMPUS, SPRING 2021

After thirteen (13) long months, Grossmont College student-athletes will return to campus for the first time for athletic training.

"We are extremely excited to get back," said Grossmont College Athletic Director, Nedra Brown. "It has been over a year and we have worked tirelessly to bring our student-athletes back safely."

As of Tuesday, April 27, student-athletes are welcomed back to campus to condition only, including men's and women's basketball, football, men's and women's swim and dive, and women's tennis.

"We are very excited to get back on the tennis courts!" shares Megan Haber, women's tennis head coach. "We thank everyone that has made this possible. Hopefully this fall we'll be in full-swing!"

The return to play will be a familiar process for these Grossmont College student-athletes amid the pandemic. In order to participate, student-athletes must show a negative COVID-19 test prior to their return to campus. They also must complete a health screening via an app, and follow all COVID-19 campus safety protocols which includes wearing a mask and social distancing.

Grossmont College Athletic Trainer, Joe Parry, revels, "It will be so great to see student-athletes back on campus."

All JUCO competition was canceled throughout the state back in March of 2020 due to the pandemic. The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District opted out of playing the 2020 fall and 2021 spring semesters.

Competition at the community college level is not expected to resume in the State of California until the fall 2021 semester.

Grossmont College fields 16 intercollegiate sports (badminton, baseball, men's and women's basketball, beach volleyball, football, women's soccer, softball, men's and women's swim and dive, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's volleyball, and men's and women's waterpolo).
