GC BEACH SWEEPS THE ALL-CONFERENCE AWARDS

Grossmont beach volleyball captures the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championship, Duo of the Year, Individual Championship, Coach of the Year and All-Conference Team awards for spring 2019.

Prior to winning the Team State Championship title, the Griffin beach volleyball team finished 10-0 in conference (PCAC) solidifying the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championship in early April for the second consecutive year. The Griffin number ones (1) and twos (2) teams each hold additional conference recognition.

Ones pair Desiree Elizondo and Aofiaolela Faa'agi were voted as the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Duo of the Year. The pair advanced as far as the round of 16 in the state tournament. Winning the Pairs State Championship title was twos (2) pair Ashlee Goycoochea and Alexcis Morris.

Ashlee Goycoochea and Alexcis Morris also hold the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Individual Championship title. The conference recognition does not stop there.

Head coach Jamie Ivers is the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Ivers led the team to a State Championship this spring, capturing the title for the second time since 2016.

Grossmont is the first two-time champion in the five-season history of CCCAA beach volleyball. The Griffins beat Irvine Valley College for their first banner in 2016. They have also appeared in four of the five state championship tournaments, missing only the 2018 season.

It was the collective effort, dedication and hardwork of the entire spring 2019 women's beach volleyball team that captured this spring's championship.

Shaney Lipscomb and Kylee Snyder at the number fives (5) were a big part of the Griffins' success at the CCCAA state tournament, capturing victories in their two pool play matchups as well the championship. Lipscomb and Snyder downed the Long Beach Vikings' Emma Harris-Calissa Candalot (21-17, 21-17) providing a point toward Grossmont's championship.

Grossmont clinched its second state championship when the number fours (4) pair of Julia Holden and Jamie Sakasegawa turned back Long Beach's Elsa Woods-Kaitlin Peterson (21-16, 21-18), setting off a wild Griffin's celebration.

In addition to Grossmont's fours and fives pairs, the Griffin twos and threes (3) pairs gain recognition as Pacific Coast Athletic Conference All-Conference Team.
