Dominating win for the Griffins over Imperial Valley

El Cajon — The Grossmont College Griffin baseball team finally got to play Imperial Valley College after a couple of postponements due to weather.  Just because the series was delayed doesn't mean the Griffins were "rusty" as they left no doubts in a 16-0 run-ruled shortened seven innings.

But, while it may have taken longer than expected to play the games, the Griffins (15-9, 8-3 PCAC) certainly didn't take long to put this game away.  The Green and Gold put a seven spot up on the scoreboard in the first inning to put the competitive portion of the game away.

Noah Lane hit a grand slam to left for his first home run of the season in the fourth inning.  An inning later, Sean McGrew hit his third home run of the season, a two-run shot.

Thirteen of fourteen batters for the Griffins reached base, Twelve reached via a hit.

Kyle Dobyns (5-3) went five for the win only throwing 57 pitches on the afternoon.  While very economical (more economical than some cars on the roads), the right-hander scattered five hits while striking out a half dozen.

The Griffins hit the road for a doubleheader on Saturday at Imperial Valley.  First pitch is at 11:00 a.m.

On Tuesday, G-House is back at Noel Michelsen Field to host San Diego Mesa.  First pitch is at 2:00 p.m.
