EL CAJON - The Grossmont College Griffin Men's basketball team suffered a setback on Friday night (Jan. 6) as they lost to #13 San Diego Miramar 82-63 at the Griffin Arena.

Grossmont (6-9, 1-3 PCAC) was led by Brandon Tully who scored 17 points off the bench in the loss. Daevin Celaya was the only other Griffin to score in double figures with 13 on 5-of-11 shooting. Of the 13 players that played in the contest, only four did not score a point.

San Diego Miramar (14-2, 4-0 PCAC) stayed on top of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference and was led by Michael Batchelor with a game-high 27 points. Also scoring in the twenties was Jakob Milling with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

"I thought our effort was fantastic tonight," head coach Doug Weber said. "The guys are playing incredibly hard. We had a bunch of wide-open shots that didn't go in tonight. (Miramar) is the best defensive team that we've faced all year."

The Green and Gold will travel to Palomar on Wednesday, Jan. 11 before returning home to take on their District-rival Cuyamaca next Friday at 7:00 p.m. as part of a Griffin doubleheader.
