GRIFFINS HELD TO UNDER 80 POINTS

SAN MARCOS — College basketball games is a game of runs.  The team with either longer runs or just more runs usually gets the win. Palomar had the longer runs on Wednesday, Jan. 11 and came away with the 99-71 victory in The Dome in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference action.

Brandon Tully had a game-high 22 points in the Griffin (6-10, 1-4 PCAC) loss.  Samuel Stewart IV nearly had a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.  Ten of the 11 Griffins scored at least two points in the game.

Six Comets (11-5, 3-1 PCAC) were in double figures led by Andrew Milot and his 19 points.

Grossmont came out red hot jumping out to a 13-8 lead just four minutes into the game.

Palomar, a half-game behind the PCAC leaders of SD City and SD Miramar, then turned the tables and went on a 35-27 run across the final 16 minutes of the first half.  Giving the Comets a 43-40 lead at the break.

In the second half of the game, the Comets were on a 16-3 run in the first four minutes of the half, giving them a 59-43 lead.

The Green and Gold clawed back to within ten at 63-53 with 13 and a half left in the game.

PC stretched the lead out to 20 points at 82-62 with just over seven minutes left in the game.

Palomar scored their final points in the game at the two-minute mark.

Grossmont will be back in action as they take on GCCCD rival Cuyamaca (2-14, 0-4 PCAC).  Tip-off is scheduled to take place at 7:00 p.m.
