MWP: 2021 Griffins finish 4th in final state poll, many athletes recognized for their individual performances!

The Griffin poloists bettered 20 wins for the second time in three years. This years Griffins went 25-13 on the season,played the most matches in the CCCAA, and played the most challenging schedule in the PCAC. The 2021 schedule included 12 matches vs top 10 teams and 6 matches vs four year college programs. Sophomore Brock Kammerer was second in the state this year for both goals scored (123) and assists (70). Sophomore Garrett Duardo also found himself in the top 10 for goals scored (100) and second in the state for Ejections Drawn. Sophomore Emiliano Castro landed in the top 15 for assists while Freshman Goalkeeper Parker George finished second in the state with 273 saves. The Griffins went 12-0 in Conference outscoring opponents 220-104, beating PCAC foes by an average of almost 10 goals a game, and performed very well in the Southern California Playoffs going 3-1, knocking off a perennial powerhouse in Long Beach, and finishing third in the tournament. 

The 2021 season also saw the Griffins do well in the postseason awards arena, 7 Griffins found themselves named to the PCAC 1st or 2nd team, 5 to the All Southern California 1st or 2nd team, and 4 were named Community College All Americans. Sophomore Garrett Duardo was selected as both the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the year, and the Southern California Player of the year. Coach Lackey picked up his 3rd Conference Coach of the year nomination (Co this year). The 2021 season was truly one to remember, but with 14 Freshman on the roster the 2022 Griffins might just give us more to talk about! 

Sophomore Emilliano Castro earned his second 1st team All PCAC and First All SoCal and All American nominations. 

2018 PCAC Player of the Year, All SoCal, and All American Brock Kammer earned his second All PCAC, All SoCal, and All American nominations in 2021, becoming Grossmont's first two time All American since 2008-2009. 

Garrett Duardo had a phenomenal Sophomore season earning his second All PCAC, and First All Southern California and Community College All American selections. Garrett was also named PCAC and Southern California Player of the Year.  

Sophomore Anson Rasmusson earned his second All PCAC selection in 2021. 

Freshman Austin Gaier, Ryan Beery and Parker George all picked up All PCAC selections, with Gaier and George earning All Southern California selections as well. Freshman Goalkeeper Parker George also earned 2nd Team All America honors in his first season with the Griffins.
