Grossmont College softball defeats Glendale College twice in a double header Saturday, February 15, 2020.

Game 1
Grossmont College stole the lead late in the game in a 10-8 victory over Glendale College Vaqueros on Saturday, February 15, 2020. 

The game was tied at eight with Grossmont batting in the bottom of the sixth when an error scored two runs for Grossmont College. The Vaqueros scored five runs in the fourth inning, but Griffins managed to pull out the victory.

In the first inning, Grossmont got its offense started. Sierra Schlichting singled on a 1-0 count, and scored one run.

Grossmont tallied three runs in the fourth inning.  Lexi Schmehr and Jessica Medlin all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Grossmont tied up the game at eight when Gabby Clippinger's sacrifice fly scored one run.

The Griffins had 12 hits in the game. Schmehr, Sierra Marty, Melissa Gutierrez, Jazmine Gomez, and Schlichting each had multiple hits for the Griffins. Schlichting, Gomez, Guiterez, Olson, Marty, and Schmehr each collected two hits to lead Grossmont to victory.

Game 2
Lexi Schmehr didn't allow a single run against the Vaqueros. She lasted five innings, allowed two hits and no runs while striking out two. She threw a game shutout and took the 9-0 victory.

The Griffins did not commit a single error in the field.

Grossmont secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the fourth inning. Kelly Olson, Gutierez, Medlin, Schlichting, and Marty all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Olson went 3 for 3, and Alyssia Valdez 1 for 1. Jessica Medlin and Sierra Marty 2 for 3, with Jazmine Gomez and Melissa Gutierrez each singling to the outfield 1 for 2. The Griffins racked up 12 hits in the second game.
