EL CAJON – The Grossmont College Griffin women's basketball team lost in more than one way to the MiraCosta Spartans on Wednesday, January 4th in the Griffin Arena in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

On the scoreboard the team lost 67-46, but more importantly lost on the personnel front. The Griffins (0-6, 0-1 PCAC) were already thin on the personnel front, starting the game with only six active players. During the game, two Griffins went down with injuries forcing the Griffins to play with only four players on the floor for the final 14 minutes of the game.

Jaleah Raymond led the Griffin attack with 13 points and six rebounds while playing all 40 minutes of the game. Caitlyn Stayner scored 11 points in a minute shy of the entire game and Allira Martin nearly had a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds in her 37 minutes on the court.

"We only turned the ball over 21 times which is an improvement for us," head coach Karen Caires said after the game. "Finishing with only four players, we fought the entire game and I'm very proud of the girls."

Grossmont is scheduled to play #1 Palomar (15-0, 1-0 PCAC) on Friday at 5:00 in San Marcos.
