GRIFFINS RETURNS WITH A WIN

EL CAJON – After experiencing a two week hiatus, the Grossmont College Griffin Women's basketball team scored their first victory of the season in a 57-49 game against district rival Cuyamaca.

The Griffins were returning from a hiatus due to dealing with some player health issues, the Griffins are still not at full compliment of players but are close enough to resume playing games.

Grossmont lead for the vast majority of the contest, leading by as many as 15 points. Jaleah Raymond went a perfect 10-10 from the field for 24 points for game high honors. Paige Evans also reached double figures with 13 points.

"I'm very proud of our ladies," head coach Karen Caires said after the win. "We battled thru all of our health issues and came out strong even tho we still are not at full strength."

The Griffins will continue Pacific Coast Athletic Conference action on Friday as they travel to Oceanside to face the Spartans of MiraCosta for a 7:00pm tip off.
