EL CAJON — The Grossmont College women's basketball team fought a good fight on Friday, Feb. 10th as they hosted San Diego Mesa, but ended up falling to the Olympians 68-45 in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference game.

The Griffins (1-13, 1-8 PCAC) have been plagued by the injury bug all season.  With two players not able to dress due to injury, that left only six players suited up at tip-off.  Even with a very short bench, the Griffins were in the game and even had a lead for a time. With four lead changes the game was not as one-sided as some may seem.

Allira Martin had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.  Paula Magtoto along with three Olympians were all tied for game-high honors with 11 points.

The game was tight through three quarters with Mesa leading by only 11 points before the Griffins cut it to four with less than a minute to go in the third.

The Olympians made some timely shots and the Griffins played the final 5:25 with only four players on the court.

Wednesday, the Griffins will be on the road traveling to San Diego City College before returning home to close out the season on Friday, Feb. 17 against Cuyamaca on Sophomore night.
