New Head Coach Westly Perryman will take the helm of the Grossmont Women’s Basketball program. We are excited to have him lead our Lady Griffins as he not only brings Community College , D1 and Professional Basketball experience to our program , but great energy and a fire and desire to help our ladies become better players and people both on and off the court !

Coach Wes is no stranger to the Grossmont College family as he served as the Associate Head Coach in the 2023-24 season. He hails from Boston Massachusetts where he played high school basketball at East Boston High. During his high school career he he averaged 26ppg 6apg and 6rpg . He finished as a member of the 1000 point club , won a championship, was ranked #1 in the state of Massachusetts , was selected as a Boston Globe All Scholastic Athlete , made multiple all star appearances and was awarded a member of the Boston Herald Dream Team ( Top 5 in the state ) Although he was being recruited by Division One programs he and his family thought it would be better if he played Community College basketball at Monroe College in New York City. There he would go on to win a conference championship, become the rookie of the year , 1st team all conference , 1st team all tournament , and the MVP in his freshman season. In the summer of his freshman season he was ranked top 50 in the nation and invited to a Juco showcase where he would go on to get D1 offers from schools like the University of Houston , University of South Florida , Boise State University , Northeastern , Rhode Island , Providence , Iona and a few others. After taking his visits he decided to sign with Boise State University before entering his sophomore season at Monroe. In his sophomore season he EXPLODED. The team won another conference championship and he became the player of the year , 1st team all conference , and was an All American. He finished his career there #4 all time in scoring.

At Boise State University he quickly became the starting two guard. He played against guys like Damian Lillard ( NBA Top 75 Player of all time ) Kawhi Leonard ( NBA Top 75 Player of all time , NBA champion and MVP ) , Paul George ( NBA all star ) and many other NBA guys. This experience of going from the Community College level to the Division One level is a big part of why we believe he’ll do really well with relating and connecting with our incoming players who aspire to make that big step as well.

After graduating from Boise State University he signed his first professional basketball contract with a Pro team in Germany where he would play for a couple years before deciding to get into coaching ! He started his coaching career at the HS in Los Angeles as a JV Head Coach and Varsity associate Head Coach. His JV team won their a conference championship in his 2nd season ! Quickly making a huge impact at the JV and Varsity level he started to move up the ranks and became a Coach that the city was hearing about. He was offered a position to be the Associate Head Coach at Village Christian prep school. After spending one season there , he was then offered a Head Coaching / Director of Operations position for an amateur pro team in China. So he brings a ton of knowledge and experience to instill in our players.

Please welcome him with open arms , love and support as he looks to build an undeniable family like culture , winning mindset , competitive spirit, high character , fun environment and an unbreakable chemistry and team bond !
