It was a high energy, high speed start to the GC women's volleyball season on Wednesday, August 29, when our Griffin women spiked down Mt. San Antonio College 3-1 in the G-House (G-HOUSE!).

The opening set was just a tease for the Mounties; the Griffin women outnumbered the Mounties in kills and total attempts (12, 35 respectively), but lost the set 18-25. The women would come back to win the next three consecutive sets.

Grossmont beat out San Antonio 25-19 in the second set, with a few impact players emerging.

#6 Shaney Lipscomb and #11 Alexis Vanlandingham led the team in kills and total attempts. In the two sets played, Lipscomb totaled 5 kills with 17 total attempts, while Vanlandingham killed 8 with 19 total attempts.

The third set was just as successful for Grossmont, because the women won 25-22. Lipscomb doubled her kills (10) and totaled 27 attempts by the end of the set, and Vanlandingham followed suit earning 2 more kills and adding 9 more attempts (28). Also at this point in the match, #5 Kylee Snyder had assisted over twenty points (21), and #4 Haley Morton had assisted 9!

The G-House women took it home in the fourth and final set, ending the set 25-18 and the match 3-1 against the Mounties. It was a fantastic season opening game for the Griffin women.

Lipscomb finished the match with 12 kills and 34 total attempts. Vanlandingham was not far behind, with 11 kills and 31 attempts. Snyder and Morton finished with 24 and 11 assists respectively.

Great job ladies!
