Joe Parry began as Grossmont's Co-Head Athletic Trainer in 2019. He is responsible for the overall safety of all the Griffin student athletes as well as care and prevention of their sports injuries.  Prior to working at Grossmont, he held the Associate Athletic Trainer position at the University of San Diego.  He worked as a member of the USD Athletic training staff beginning in 2005.  While at USD he was the lead Athletic Trainer for the Torero football team and also worked closely with the Baseball and Women’s Swim & Dive programs.  

He is a graduate of San Diego State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology (with an Athletic Training Emphasis) as well as his Masters degree.  While in graduate school his research interest was in electromyography.  His Master's thesis was published in the Journal of Sports rehabilitation (August 2012).   He is a Certified Athletic Trainer through the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification and is also a member of several organizations within his field.  He has been a lab instructor at both the Far West and National Athletic Trainer’s Association annual meetings, teaching various proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) techniques.  He is currently a clinical preceptor for both San Diego State and Point Loma Nazarene University's Master in Athletic Training Programs, in this role he teaches and supervises Graduate Students who have been assigned to Grossmont College as their clinical site.  In 2022 he was the recipient of the Vice President support staff recognition award for student services,

Joe is a native of Las Vegas, NV and was a California Community College student athlete playing football at College of the Desert during the 1998 season.  He served a two-year church mission from 1999-2001 before moving to San Diego and completing his degree programs. 

He lives with his wife Mandy and their three daughters Ryan, Taylor & Bailey in the Clairemont Mesa area of San Diego.  Mandy is a probation officer for the County of San Diego.
