Coach Haber played for the University of San Diego High School (Cathedral Catholic) and then continued as a student-athlete at Grossmont College. Megan was a member of the 1988 State Championship Tennis Team coached by the legendary Bob Rump. Coach Haber was a Community College All American in singles and doubles and then transferred to Sonoma State University where she was named a Division II All American in 1990. In 2003, Megan was inducted into the Sonoma State University Athletic Hall of Fame.
As a college student, Megan spent her summers working with Bob Hansen at the University of California, Santa Cruz. After graduating from SSU, Coach Haber spent 8 months in Micronesia, teaching tennis and water sports on Guam and Saipan for Pacific Island Club Resorts. Returning to the mainland, Megan began her coaching nd teaching career at La Jolla County Day School before becoming the head coach of the women's tennis at Grossmont College.
Megan, a native of San Diego, has been the women's tennis coach at Grossmont College since 1999. The women's tennis team is considered one of the top community college tennis programs in the county. Women's tennis has 11 State Championships, more than any other community college in California. Haber has been an instructor in the Exercise Science & Wellness Department since 1997. Megan enjoys teaching yoga, soccer, fitness and nutrition. From 2002-2004, Haber was the head coach of the women's cross country team at Grossmont College. As a player, and now as a coach, Megan has been instrumental in the success of the women's tennis program. Haber has been named the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference "Coach of the Year" numerous times and in 2009, she was recognized as "Female Coach of the Year" by the San Diego District Tennis Association.
When asked about the rewards and challenges of coaching, "Each year presents an opportunity to work with new athletes. It is very rewarding seeing these young women advance to greater levels, both athletically and academically". Haber continues, "I've had many players who after working very hard for two years at Grossmont have obtained athletic and academic scholarships to Division I, II, III and NAIA tennis programs. As Coach Haber explains, It is exciting to encourage these young ladies to be the best they can be."
Haber states, "My family has given me my passion for athletics and endless support. I am very thankful to be working with such talented student-athletes." Off the court, Haber enjoys practicing yoga, watching football and biking on the boardwalk with family and friends.
